CREATORS OF ENTANGLEMENT

Laura Callen organizes communities toward liberated futures. For the last five years, she has been supporting white settlers like herself to live in right relationship with the Lisjan Nation people in the territory of Huchiun where she lives (aka San Francisco East Bay). She does this work as an organizer for Good Guest: Kensington, Jews on Ohlone Land and the Lisjan Nation Curriculum Collective. Laura founded and directed the Adoption Museum Project for 10 years. This collaborative project used arts and culture to explore the U.S. practice of adoption through a justice lens, in order to create a more complete narrative of adoption. lauracallen@gmail.com

Kirk Frye currently is a naturalist and an artist. Widely traveled, he earned a  B.A. and Master’s Degree in Anthropology from University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Master’s Degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara where he conducted his dissertation research on Andean Archeology. A study of taoist yoga (neigong and tai chi) and mycorrhizal fungal networks influence his steam-bent wood sculptures. A reflection of the spiraling forces of nature, his artworks take the form of helices, mobiles, and plants and utilize different kinds of wood and metals. Historic land use practices and justice are important topics to him. https://artbykirkfrye.wixsite.com/mysite
