Artist Books
I created this book at a time when I was struggling with yet another stress fracture in my foot. Over the years I have suffered multiple stress fractures, caused by a combination of low bone density in my feet and my passion for long distance running. Particularly frustrated by the limitations of my body but not wanting to give up the sport that I loved so much, creating this book was my way of attempting to make peace with my body and to discover the emotions behind my passion for running. In the book, I used film from my past MRIs and X-rays, scans of my past race numbers and medical reports, excerpted photographs from Eadweard Muybridge's The Male and Female Figure in Motion, photographs from my past races, and my own writing. The title and passage included in the book are set in the typeface Velvet.
